Well, it really varies.

I'd suggest that you download the MMS related specifications from the www.openmobilealliance.org web site. And also get the 3GPP MMS specs from http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/23_series/23.140/

Basically, anything can communicate with the MMSC if it has a reason to.

But the usual connections are phone devices, which generally connect to the MMSC via a WAP proxy. The MMSC connects to either a WAP Push Proxy Gateway or an SMSC to send out notifications.

Interconnections with other MMSCs use MM4 (SMTP-based).

Application servers communicate with the MMSC using SOAP (usually MM7).

Those are the basics ... there can be some more specialised connections in some environments.

Unfortunately, those types of interfaces are going to vary by product. They are not necessarily standardised.

In our product we expose HTTP interfaces for those purposes.

Are you asking specifically about NowSMS? Or are you asking in general?

Which vendor's MMSC can your NowSMS interconnect with? Have you been testing with them?

By interconnections, I am assuming that you are referring to MM4 interconnections.

We have not performed any testing directly with other vendors.

However, we do have customers that have implemented MM4 interconnections between NowSMS and other MMSCs. In those cases, I have no knowledge of what vendor's MMSC is at the other end of the connections ... I can only guess based upon information that I've seen when troubleshooting. Based upon differences and quirks that we have observed in these MM4 implementations, I would estimate that we have seen 3 or 4 different vendors in these interconnections.
