Hi,

We are aware of the SMS/MMS Gateway v5.50 for performing the IOT of MT-SMS and MT-MMS of our new terminals. For example, we want to use this program to generate MMS messages with different attachment file extension/ MIME header (i.e. jpeg, gif, mp3, mp4, 3gpp) and different message classes (i.e. Personal, advertisement, auto, etc.). However, after we have actually tried the software, we have a few questions as below:

1. We understand we can use the web-interface to attach file on a MMS message and send it to our WAP gateway (MMSC). There are no problem for common file types such as gif, midi and jpeg. However, if we want to attach some not so common file types (ie. image/tiff, video/3gpp, video/x-ms-wmv, video/h263, audio/3gpp, audio/mp4, audio/x-ms-wma, etc.) and send to our new terminals for compatibility testing, is there any convenient way for us to define the MIME type in the MIME header (i.e. when we attach a mp4 extension file, nowSMS will automatically associate it with video/3gpp, etc)?

2. If we want to define message classes of the MMS, such as Personal, advertisement, etc. Is there any convenient way rather than using MMSCOMP?

3. (SMS question) Can we define the reply-path of the SMS?

We are very interested in the program. Hopefully, our doubt can be solved.

Hi Eric,

1.) When you submit a message via the web interface, we map the file extension to a MIME type using the MMSCTYPE.INI file (and if the extensino is not in that file, we consult the Windows registry).

2.) Normally I would suggest MMSCOMP, but we have added some additional options into the web interface for sending an MMS message in the latest patch. There is an update that can be downloaded at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms550e.zip. This version now allows the following MMS settings to be set for messages submitted through the web interface: "Delivery Report", "Read Report", "Priority", and "Message Class".

3.) The reply path flag can be set for SMPP connections and GSM modem connections. To set this flag, you must submit a message via a direct URL request, and include the parameter "&ReplyRequested=Yes" to set this flag. (I believe we do also set this flag properly for UCP/EMI and CIMD2 connections, but we have never tested this.) Do note that some service providers will reject message submissions when this flag is set, because they are not willing to accept replies from non-subscribers via the same SMSC.
