MMS connections to an operator MMSC over GPRS can now support HTTP proxies in addition to WAP proxies. This is an important feature for users wishing to send MMS messages to an MMSC over one of the "3" subsidiaries where WAP proxies are not installed. (In fact, it is probably not appropriate to refer to this as an "over GPRS" feature, as this capability can be used with 3G modems.)

When configuring an MMS over GPRS connection, either under "MMS Receive Settings" for an SMSC/GSM Modem definition, or as an "MMSC Outbound Routing" definition, support has been added for connecting to an HTTP proxy (used by some WAP2 devices) rather than a conventional WAP proxy. To specify this type of connection when configuring a connection to an operator MMSC over GRPS, in the "WAP Gateway IP Address" field use the format "http://ipaddress:port" to specify the proxy address. A prefix of "http://" will tell NowSMS to use HTTP instead of WAP. If the "http://" prefix is not present, NowSMS will assume that it is conventional WAP proxy.
