I downloaded nowsms and managed to get it to send text messages. I tried sending an mms message with a midi file attached to it to my cell phone. I recieved the message, but could not retrieve the midi file. My cell phone said "Retrieving Fail: Forbidden" Does this mean my cell phone operator is blocking it? I have an e316 samsung and am using attwireless. Also I am using a clickatell account to send the sms messages. Is there anyway I can get my cell phone to recieve the mms messages?

Hi Michael,

Someone recently told me that ATTWS' MMS setup is closed to external MMSCs, but I'm not convinced that it is. I know it wasn't when they first launched MMS.

So let's do this ...

Instead of an MMS, try sending your self a Multimedia WAP Push. Include any content ... the question is whether or not you are able to open the push message on the phone at all.

If you can't open the push message, then go back and verify the settings for your "local host name or IP Address" on the MMSC page of the NowSMS configuration.

When NowSMS sends out that push, it is going to build a dynamic URL pointing back to the MMSC port on the NowSMS server.

Here is a thread with some good tips on troubleshooting multimedia WAP push:

Once that is working, give MMS another try.

If your mobile operator's network blocks message delivery from external MMSCs, then you can use a GPRS modem to deliver them. See:
