WAP Push over CDMA How is this going ? Can nowsms handle that ? Is there any workarounds ? ;)Lars | |||

Hi Lars, We have a couple of mobile operators that are using NowSMS as an MMSC on a CDMA network. The big issue with MMS and WAP push on a CDMA network is that you need access to an SMSC that can support WDP Adaptation for CDMA. Basically, to send WAP push in the CDMA environment, it requires that some CDMA specific SMS parameters be set which can only be set by the SMSC. None of the SMS protocols go far enough to allow you to set the CDMA specific parameters required by the WAP Push CDMA implementation. So WDP Adaptation defines how a WAP Push Proxy Gateway and an SMSC can cooperate over SMPP, and how the SMSC can translate various WAP Push parameters for the appropriate environment (such as CDMA or GSM). Of course, in the GSM environment, very few SMSCs support WDP Adaptation because a push proxy gateway can set all of the GSM specific parameters directly, without using WDP Adaptation. The bottom line is that you probably won't get very far sending SMS through an aggregator. But if you can get access directly to the CDMA operator's SMSC via SMPP, then you have a chance. WDP Adaptation is enabled in NowSMS on a per SMPP SMSC connection basis under the "Advanced Settings" for that connection. -bn | |||

Hi Lars, We can certainly help troubleshoot if necessary. We'll just need to hear from someone in Brazil to indicate whether or not it is working properly. When you configure the SMPP connection, go into "Advanced Settings", and the top option setting enabled WDP adaptation. It would also be a good idea to ask them if they are aware of any other applications using WAP Push or MMS on their network. -bn | |||
