Hi Beyce,

I have setup the NowSMS v5.51 to work over GPRS and connect to the operator's MMSC (T-Mobile US). I can send audio as a MMS and the target device receives the MMS. When I open the MMS message, the audio does not start playing right away. I have to go to a menu and select play and then it plays. Is there a way to make the audio play as soon as I open the message? I am using the T610 Ericsson phone as the target device. I also know that the T610 is SMIL compatible. Also, I am using the MMSSDK to send the message.

Thanks
Ashwin

Ashwin,

Are you including SMIL in the MMS message submission?

If so, what is the SMIL?

Hi Bryce,

I am confused. I create a .mms file, isin't this a SMIL file? If not how do I include a SMIL in the message submission. I am attaching the .mms file that I am sending.

Thankyou for your help. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Hi Ashwin,

No, a SMIL file is different from a ".mms" file.

Basically, SMIL is a mark-up language ... sort of a similar concept to HTML, but unlike HTML, SMIL is very compact and geared toward slide show presentations.

You need to include a SMIL file as one of the components of your MMS message in order to have the content play automatically.

There's a good example of a simple SMIL file in the following thread:
