Does anyone know where the MMS relay proxy get the address if the device only sends From: insert-address header (0x89 0x01 0x81)? Does it come from the AAA? How would the WAP GW (or MMS relay proxy) query that info?
Can someone point me to some documents explaining that architecture or explain how this works?

Thanks

Hi,

The short answer is that the technical details are outside the scope of MMS ... but an AAA/Radius interface is generally used.

The customary approach is that a proxy/gateway inserts an HTTP header with subscriber information (or some implementations insert a cookie), and the MMSC looks for this header for connections from trusted proxies/gateways.

The proxy/gateway would have AAA/Radius integration.

The following document explains the configuration of this integration when using the NowSMS MMSC and NowWAP: http://www.nowsms.com/nowsms-operator-mmsc-considerations
