The Nokia N9 send the mms without any problem, but never could receive any mms, I copy the uaproof file in the Uaproof directory but still could not receive any mms in this Phone. The phone details: migo 1.2 harmattan Release: (20.2011.40-4_PR_001). If you have any similar experience with this terminal, could you please share with us your experience to solve this issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi JB,

I'm not aware of any issues specific to that device.

Probably the quickest way to get a handle on what is happening would be to enable the MMSCDEBUG.LOG.

Have the device send an MMS to another number. Preferably do this at a more quiet time of the day.

Then have the device send an MMS to its own number.

Wait 5 minutes or so.

E-mail the MMSCDEBUG.LOG to nowsms@nowsms.com with Attention: Des in the subject line. Note the number of the N9 so that we can look for transactions related to it in the log.

As a temporary fix, add the following setting to the [MMSC] section of MMSC.INI:

MSISDNMatchRequiredForReceive=No

Restart the MMSC service after applying this setting.

MMS should then start working for that device.

We are investigating, but it appears that the N9 is having a problem with the the MMS notification URL containing a URL encoded character.

The MMS Notification includes the following:

?=%2b

The MMS client in the N9 is changing this to:

?=%252b

In other words, the N9 is performing URL encoding against an already encoded URL.

I can only figure that this is a bug that we need to work-around.

As a first step, adding MSISDNMatchRequiredForReceive=No will provide a temporary work-around.

Hi,

We will have an update next week that removes the need to use any special setting. (I do want to emphasize that this is indeed a bug in the N9 MMS client that is corrupting the MMS message URL when processing it. Our update will simply compensate for this bug.)

In the meantime, I wanted to offer one change to the advice above.

Instead of using MSISDNMatchRequiredForReceive=No, we would recommend instead adding the following setting to the [MMSC] section of MMSC.INI:

CompactMMSURL=Yes

This setting changes the format of the MMS content URL so that it will not include any URL escaped parameters, and will avoid the bug in the Nokia N9 MMS client.

The original intended effect of this setting was to reduce the length of the MMS Content URL by 14 bytes. This setting should have no other effect on operation.

I would suggest removing the MSISDNMatchRequiredForReceive=No setting from your configuration. This setting is not a major security problem, but it does remove some protection against unauthorised access to MMS messages.

CompactMMSURL=Yes has no security implications.

An updated release of the NowSMS MMSC is available at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms20120209.zip, which implements a work-around for this problem without requiring any special configuration settings.
