Hello,

We are establishing MM4 connection with other MMSC. During testing our partner noticed, that in our MM4_delivery_report.RES when we are sending X-Mms-Request-Status-Code: OK "OK" is capital letters. Their MMSC rejects this message, becouse as they say by 3GPP standard it should be different. Is it so?

Thanks,

Misha

Hi Misha,

Are you running an older version of NowSMS perhaps? I found the following item in our changes log from 2008-09-16:

* MMSC/MM4: MM4 Acknowledgment responses were returning the header "X-Mms-Request-Status-Code: OK". This has been changed to "X-Mms-Request-Status-Code: Ok" (mixed case "Ok") in order to be consistent with the relevant specification, and to address a real world interoperability issue at a customer site.

Hi Des,

Thanks for your reply. Our version is not too old, just v2011.07.05. I can upgrade to version 2012.06.28, our software upgrade licence is valid. But before doing this can you confirm, that problem doesn't exist in new version?

Thanks

Hi Misha,

I ran some tests to verify that the Ok is mixed case in the MM4 header "X-Mms-Request-Status-Code: Ok".

I also asked one of our engineers to look through the code to see if my tests might have missed something. He says the only values that NowSMS will use for "X-Mms-Request-Status-Code:" are "Ok" and "Error-unspecified". "OK" in all caps is never referenced as a value for this MM4 header.

So, I'm not sure about the accuracy of your partner's observation. I'm fairly confident that a 2011 version would perform the same as a 2012 version with regard to this header, as the only issue we are aware of with it dates back to 2008.

You might want to use Wireshark to capture packets as an additional sanity check.

Are you connecting directly to this partner, or are you using another service as an interconnect? I'm asking, because maybe the interconnect is translating "Ok" to "OK".

Hi Des,

Thanks for your reply.

We are connected through MMS hub, so looks like you are right and they are translating "Ok" to "OK". We need few time to check it and I'll let you know about results.

Thanks a lot!
