I want to send content via wap push messages but i have some questions. All the phones which support MMS are also wap push compatible? (Even the cheap ones as Nokia 3510i, Sony Ericsson T230 or Siemens M55) Which format should I use so that the push message is readable on as many phones as possible. Than you in advance for your answer.

Yes, generally any phones that support MMS will also support WAP Push. MMS is built on top of WAP Push technology. The only exception that I can think of is that I know the original release of that MS Smartphone on Orange could support MMS, but it couldn't support WAP Push. Many older phones that don't support MMS, also support WAP Push. For example, the Nokia 6210, 6310. Basically, WAP Push started coming out on phones with a WAP browser in late 2000, so it has been around a little longer than MMS.

WAP Push and MMS are supported in CDMA environments. However, NowSMS only supports this functionality when connecting to an SMPP server that supports "WDP Adaptation" for CDMA. This is usually only supported by operator SMSCs, and is typically not supported by SMS aggregators. There are several CDMA based mobile operators that use NowSMS as their MMSC. If you are looking for technical details of WAP Push in the CDMA environment, then refer to the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) specifications. WAP Push is implemented over WSP (Wireless Session Protocol). Connection-less WSP (the type normally used over SMS) is implemented over WDP (Wireless Datagram Protocol). The OMA WDP specification details how WDP is adapted for different transport protocols, including CDMA SMS. -bn |
