We are using "MMS Routing" module to send MMS via MM4 to another operator. Sending mms via MM4 is clear for us, but not clear how to recieve MMS from another Operator via MM4?

Hi, Apologies for the delay in response. It is a little confusing, but the following document provides a good overview: http://www.nowsms.com/mmsc-mm4-interconnection-basics If I can clarify any points, please ask. -- Des NowSMS Support

POP3 is not involved. MM4 is an SMTP based protocol. When you have a message to send to the other operator, an "MMSC Routing" account definition specifies the parameters to be used to initiate an MM4 over SMTP transaction to the other operator. When the other operator has a message to deliver too you, they initiate an MM4 over SMTP connection to your MMSC. Most of the time, they will not authenticate with a username and password, but expect you to recognize them by IP Address. The inbound connection is defined under "MMSC VASP", and if authenticating by IP address, the account name is the IP Address. (If the other operator connects out from multiple IP addresses, a separate account must be created for each IP address.) One important note ... in the "MMSC VASP" account definition, there is an "MM4 ack route" setting ... this should point to the outbound "MMSC Routing" account. -- Des NowSMS Support |
