Hi
we are currently working on improving the monitoring of the MMSC.
In order to have the information if mms service is OK or not , we are already check for some counter and log. Please see what we already check :
- we graph the xmlstatus , and see the evolution of the trafic ( another topics is open on this in order to understand exactly what is the information provide )
- we check the event log for error ( MM4 or SMPP )
- check the rate of failed on the MMS.log and sms.log
- check the status of the executable mms and sms service ( mmsc.exe and smsgws.exe )

do you see any other way to improve the mmsc monitoring ?

thanks beforehand for your feedback

Hi Marc,

Those are all good things to check.

I also like port monitoring, especially on the MMSC port. What I like to suggest is putting a text file in the MMSCDATA directory, with a name like test.txt, and you include HTTP GET /test.txt in your monitoring routines.

Another idea that we have been contemplating is using a separate NowSMS install using one or more Android devices, where test messages could be periodically sent and received to monitor status and delivery performance.
