Hi
How can I set the routing options if I have multiple SMPP accounts?
I have version 5.5 and 2 SMPP accounts with these configurations:
1st account
1- Has number entered in the "preferred SMSC account"
2- The check "Support any outbound..." is unchecked

2nd account
1- Has nothing in the "preferred SMSC account"
2- The check "Support any outbound..." is checked

But when i try to send using one of the numbers in the list for the first account it being sent form the other account

Please advice

Hi ram,

Are these two SMPP accounts that point to different accounts on the same server?

NowSMS has problems with this, as it gets confused in the configuration and merges the information from the two entries.

The work-around in the past has been to use the HOSTS file to define multiple aliases for the same server. The technique is described in the following thread: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/2167.html

However, that said, we have made changes in an update to v5.51 which makes it easier to define multiple connections to the same SMSC without playing these tricks.

If you have v5.5, then the first thing you would have to do is update to v5.51. Download and install the evaluation version from our web site, and if you have an existing serial number, it will recognise it.

Make sure that your SMSC definition only exists one time in the SMSC list. If you have multiple entries defined, remove them so there is only one.

Then, apply the updated files for NowSMS v5.51 that can be downloaded from http://www.nowsms.com/download/20041202.zip.

With the updated NowSMS, go ahead and define another connection to the same SMSC with different parameters, and you will see that NowSMS automatically appends "#2", "#3", "#etc." to the definitions in order to keep them distinct and avoid confusion.

Same IP address with different ports is not a problem.

Where you run into a problem is connecting to multiple SMSCs on the same address and port.

The issue is that we store the connection information in SMSGW.INI. And we use the SMSC address and port as a section header. Therefore multiple connections to the same address and port caused a problem for how the connection information was saved.

The HOSTS file solution is how we used to solve this, and then the update actually fixes the problem.

However, you should not have any problems if you are connecting to different ports.

E-mail it to nowsms@now.co.uk, with "Attention Bryce" in the subject line, and please provide a reference to this thread.
