Hi,

After upgrading to version 2018.07.17, we have some problems with forwarding MMS to e-mail. (ShortCode in MMSC.ini)

In MMSCdebug.log, it looks good, but the customer does not receive the email. Where can we debug the internal SMTP server ?

I can see that we have some MMS in the MMSCOUT folder.

Can you help us to get it up an running?

Hi Peter,

How is your outbound SMTP email sent?

There was a fix related to routing outbound email via a Gmail account. Offhand, I don’t remember the specifics, but it was TLS related. Port 465 worked, but port 587 did not, or vice versa. If you are using one of these ports, try changing.

For further troubleshooting, enable MMSCDEBUG.LOG. Then email MMSCDEBUG.LOG and MMSC.INI to nowsms@nowsms.com with Attention: Des on the subject line. Also post a reply here to let me know to look for the files.

Hi Peter,

I've reviewed this with our e-mail expert, and he believes the issue is related to STARTTLS support in our SMTP engine.

Previously, we only used STARTTLS if an SSL certificate was installed for the NowSMS server. Now, if a destination server advertises STARTTLS support, we try to use it.

Some SMTP servers might not like this if a valid SSL certificate is not installed. Technically, an SSL certificate is not required for the client side of STARTTLS, but some servers might be looking for a valid certificate for email spam prevention.

Try editing MMSC.INI and under the [MMSC] header, please add SMTPUseStartTLS=No

This setting will disable the use of STARTTLS for SMTP, which I suspect will address your issue.

Please do follow-up with the MMSCDEBUG.LOG, before and after applying this setting, as we want to make sure wee fully understand the issue that you are experiencing.
