Is it possible to connect two nowsms servers together and have mms messages received by one, forwarded to the other? I have two servers, one in Europe and another in the US. I'd like all mms's received in Europe to be sent to the US one where an app will pull them into a db.

is this possible with nowsms?
thanks,

Actually I may have figured this out - Can I use a VASP account to do this and rounte between the two using MM7?

thanks

Hi Kevin,

Yes, using a VASP account is the way to go.

The sending side gets defined under "MMSC Routing", and the receiving side gets defined under "MMSC VASP". (It is possible for both sides to send & receive.)

If you need to do the same with SMS, then you do this with SMPP. You can activate an SMPP server on one or both ends, and define accounts on the SMPP server in the "SMS Users" dialog.

Thanks Bryce,
I've done this but it looks like I'm having some issues witht the firewall. Does a VASP setup still use the defualt port? I have the port set to 8080 instead of 80 (IIS already running on the server) and I presume I need to open this port on the firewall.

When connecting 2 NowSMS servers to each other for MMS routing, if you are using MM7 then the sending server needs to connect to the "HTTP Port Number" for the receiving server's MMSC. (Note that there are two different HTTP port number configurations, the one for the MMSC is configured on the "MMSC" page of the configuration dialog.)

So that would need to be opened.

SMPP connections use a separate port. On the receiving side, the port number is specified on the "Web" page of the NowSMS configuration dialog.
