Hi all,
I have setup my NowSMS gateway to act as an SMTP server which convert any email with attached jpeg image to a MMS sent with a WaveCom modem. That works fine. Now, I want to be able to send an email to an administrator account if my WaveCom modem is out of order, or if the GPRS connection could not be made, or if the supplied mobile number is invalid ... or on any other error condition. Is it possible, please ?
Thank you for your reply.

Hi,

We do need to add an option to send an e-mail if a modem is non-responsive. Currently, there is no way to configure this.

NowSMS will log an error to the Windows event log when a modem is not responding, and it is possible that you could find some event log monitoring software that will automaticlly e-mail events.

However, there is no built-in facility for this.

An error message when sending to an invalid phone number really depends on how the MMSC of your mobile operator or service provider works.

If they reject a recipient during the submission process, NowSMS will generate an error message back to the sender address specified in the message. (In this case the e-mail message sender.) However, I have not seen any providers that perform a real-time check that would facilitate this.

In fact, most mobile operators don't tell you that you have sent to an invalid phone number, and just silently discard the message. If they do return an error back via MMS, you can configure the "Receive MMS Messages/MMS Settings" for the modem to route the received messages to a particular e-mail address.
