Dear all,

I am using a T39 phone as a GSM modem, and can receive and send SMS. Also, i am sure the SIM is MMS supported, but i can't receive MMS. Do you know why i can't retrieve MMS?
In the gateway, i already set the software to store MMS in the default directory. The connection test to the WAP gateway is also passed.
i have no idea, Please help.

Stanley,

Generally speaking, you cannot use a phone as a GSM modem in order to receive MMS messages with the Now SMS/MMS Gateway.

The reason for this is because the MMS Client in the mobile phone always intercepts the MMS notification messages, and will not allow them to be forwarded over the modem interface to the gateway.

A dedicated GSM modem device is required in order to be able to receive MMS messages with the Now SMS/MMS Gateway.

Dear Bryce,

How about T68i? It seems a lot of forum members are using it.

The T68i is a great phone for sending/receiving SMS, and for sending MMS ... but unfortunately not for receiving MMS.

So far I haven't seen any phones that could be used as a GSM modem for receiving MMS over the GSM modem interface. (The MMS client in the mobile phone gets in the way.) It takes a dedicate GSM/GPRS modem device to receive MMS ... such as the Siemens MC35.

(Side note: I have been able to receive MMS over the GSM modem interface using an old Nokia 7110 ... but that device does not support GPRS, so it will only work if the provider supports MMS over dial-up WAP which is not very common. Also I have seen the 7110 lock up when receiving some binary SMS messages ... so you're really better off with a GSM modem.)
