Hi there Firstly, Bryce - you need a pat or 2 on the shoulder for the way you are handling these message boards. Your prompt and complete responses are one of a kind. Now to my problem. I have configured nowSMS as best as I could figure out from the (very good) help docs. I am using a serially connected GSM/GPRS modem, and I am trying to send an MMS including a picture to a phone from nowSMS + gprs modem + operator's MMSC. The phone receives the MMS notification, but when it tries to retrieve the content, it gets a "page not found" error. Now what is up with that? any help appreciated.. regards Carel

OK I have made some progress. nowSMS was sending the MMS using the internal MMSC, which was not what I had intended. Now that I have properly set up the configuration so that the internal MMSC is NOT used, I don't know how to send the message. The help file for the web interface states: ".. The gateway automatically compiles the MMS message file and uses the gateway's built-in MMSC to send the message." So If I understand things correctly, I HAVE to use the internal MMSC if I want to send an MMS using the web interface. If I want to send the MMS via the operator's MMSC, I need to send the MMS in some other way. According to the Help files, this "other way" will be to: "Store the [compiled binary mms] file on a web server using a MIME content type of "application/vnd.wap.mms-message", and use the gateway to send an "MMS Notification Message". I can compile a message file using the compiler, but this last part is obviously not meant for people like me, so please someone help me with this. I need to *somehow* upload my compiled file to my oprator's web server, and then I can use the web interface to send an MMS notification message. All help will be appreciated.. regards Carel

Hi Carel, Apologies for my taking so long to reply back. You're on the right track, but wrong approach. The "MMS Notification" approach will face the same roadblock as the internal MMSC. What you need to do is configure a connection to the operator MMSC, usually over a GSM/GPRS modem. See these links: http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Connecting_to_operator_MMSC.htm http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm You can still use the web interface to send MMS messages, even if they are getting routed via an operator MMSC connection. That statement in the documentation should probably reworded. -bn |
