Personally I like the SonyEricsson phones a little bit better for modem use. And they seem to process messages faster, but I can't say that I've done a scientific test on this. (Earlier today I was switching off between using a K700i and a 6260 as modems, and noticed that the K700i was signficantly faster.) In this particular case, the Nokia 6630 is a Series 60 phone, and it will not support receiving SMS messages over the GSM modem interface. So it is a bit more limited. USB is fine. You'll need to install a driver (either included with the phone or modem cable, or downloadable from the manufacturer web site) that makes the USB port addressable as a serial port, and it will function like a standard modem interface. -bn |
