Hi

I work for a company which is using the NowSMS Cloud Server as a backend for sending 1-way SMS messages. This works fine and well, however some of our customers would like to define a custom sender and the original documentation found at [1], only makes a short mention that the `Sender` is a possible parameter to dispatch to the cloud backend.

However this set of documentation does not seem to expose any options to define a `TON` or `NPI` for the format the `Sender` is described as. If these options are available in the HTTP API, then our application is able to set the appropiate `TON` and `NPI` values for the `Sender` format in accordance to the SMPP specification.

So many questions is as follows:

1) How do I configure these properties (or a custom sender that may be anything else than an international TON (e.g. Network specific or alpha-numeric)?

2) What would I need to ask my operator of the simcard for in order to activate this functionality (if any)?

Thank you,
-Kalle

Hi Kalle,

When using any type of modem to send messages out, it is only possible for that device to send messages out with the sender address being the phone number associated with the SIM. (The protocol actually doesn't allow the sender to be set at all. The mobile operator applies the sender address when it processes the message.)

When using multiple modems, the sender address can be used to indicate that a message should be sent via a specific modem.
