Dear sirs, We are using SMSC server to send MT sms services. We have both Arabic and English services. Recently, the requirement of the operator, is that; If the customer sends an english keyword, he should get reples in arabic we tried it our best, and reply is coming as ??????? into the mobile. In the smsc app., the message can be seen as arabic, but when it s pushed to the mbiel, it comes as ??????. Kindly help me, as I am in a fix. Awaiting your esteemed feedbacks. Thans in advance.

Hi, I don't know enough about how you are submitting messages. I'm also not sure whether or not you are using NowSMS (you have posted in an area of our forums marked "Unsupported"...this area is for technical discussions that are not asking for support using NowSMS). I'm guessing that you are using NowSMS. Can you send Arabic messages ok from the NowSMS web interface? Is the problem only with your application trying to send Arabic SMS? If the answer to these two questions is yes, then the issue is that NowSMS defaults to expecting applications to encode text using the UTF-8 character format. This is an international format that allows support for any language. The solution is to either convert your text to UTF-8 before submitting to NowSMS ... Or if you are submitting via HTTP, append &charset=iso8859-6 to the URL which tells NowSMS that the text being submitted is encoded using an Arabic character set. If I have misdiagnosed your problem, please provide more information about how you are sending SMS messages. -- Des NowSMS Support

Thankyou s much for your response. We are not using NowSMS. I am jsut so glad I found this forum, cuz I havent seen any online forums in this field. Anyway, if the customer sends as arabic keyword, the repliy would be in arabic. But our requirement is taht if the customer sends an english keyword, the reply also should be in arabic. where should the changes be amde for that?

I don't know enough about what system you are using to send these messages (or even what system or software you are using). Arabic messages do need to be sent out over the air using UCS2 (Unicode 16-bit). The network does not technically know whether you are sending a reply or a new message. So it doesn't know a difference between replying to an Arabic message or an English message. The software or system you are using must make some distinction, so you would need to check documentation for that software or system. -- Des NowSMS Support

I'm sorry, "smsc connectivity system" is pretty generic terminology. I would suggest you contact whoever or whatever you got that app from and ask them. Whatever is happening seems to be related to how that particular app works. -- Des NowSMS Support

I'm trying the nowsms app. Can you help me answer my problem? That is, when I change the content of the sent message, the time portion of the display changes. Can this app keep time unchanged when I change the message content? Thank you so much

I'm sorry, but I do not understand the question. If you are referring to an SMS timestamp, that is not possible for NowSMS to control. -- Des NowSMS Support |
