Hi, Is there a mechanism to resend messages that have failed. i.e. failed while submitting to SMSC. It could be because of a line failure or maybe submit response not received. Any retry count settings or so? Does a call back (Accounting) happen even for failed messages? | |||

Hi Gustav, Timeout/broken connections are always retried. I assume that you are talking about SMPP, but I'll also include some information pertinent to other SMSC protocols. Most SMPP errors will result in retry attempts, however there are certain SMPP errors which by default, result in permanent failures. (Many operators have acceptance tests that you have to pass in order to connect to their system. As part of these tests, they generally want to make sure that there are not excessive retries for permanent failure conditions.) The following link goes into more detail about how different SMPP error conditions are handled, and explains retry related settings: http://blog.nowsms.com/2007/06/smpp-error-code-handling-in-nowsms.html There is also a similar link that provides details about UCP/EMI and CIMD2 environments: http://blog.nowsms.com/2008/10/sms-retry-error-handling-with-ucpemi.html An accounting callback does occur when a message is successfully delivered to an SMSC, and when a message has exhausted all retry attempts and is considered to have failed. (There is not a callback that reports retry attempts.) -- Des NowSMS Support |
