Hi I m new to the forum. Can anybody pls tell me how to send an EMS picture message of 72*28 size by using extended objects method. any idea as to what all mobiles support extended objects? I have seen the example using UPI(User prompt Indicator). But wanna have a more concrete implementation where the user will not be prompted but still get the picture message as an sms in his inbox. I have also read that there are only 2 ways to send EMS picture mesaages,,, UPI and extended object. Is there a third approach also? Can any body please explain the second (extended object) for me with a suitable example? Thanks in advance....

Hi, Granted I have not tried every mobile phone on the planet, but I have yet to see one that implemented EMS "extended object" support. From what I've seen, more mobile phones have implemented support for picture messaging using Nokia Smart Messaging. For example, just trying some tests with some recent SonyEricsson and Motorola phones ... the SonyEricsson phone supported EMS UPI, the Motorola phone did not. Neither supported EMS extended objects. Both supported Nokia Smart Messaging pictures. (In fact if you sent an EMS UPI object to the SonyEricsson, and then forwarded that object to another phone, the SonyEricsson phone would encode the object using Nokia Smart Messaging.) This should by no means be considered the definitive word on this subject. The manufacturers might support EMS extended objects in newer release of their phones ... but this was the experience that I had the last time I tested this particular functionality. -bn
