Hi,

1. What are the advantages of using SMPP over a plain GSM modem? Does SMPP makes use of GSM modem?

2. What are the hardware requirements if I want to use SMPP?

3. If I have two GSM modems installed, how do I designate that one SMS will be sent using modem A and the other SMS will be sent using modem B?

Thank you very much.

Hi John,

Apologies for my being so scarce in providing replies here recently.

1.) SMPP is a TCP/IP based protocol that is more commonly used when connecting to mobile operators and service providers. The primary benefit of this protocol over a plain GSM modem is speed and overall capacity.

2.) There is not really a hardware requirement. There is a service provider requirement, as you need to be connecting to an SMS service provider using the SMPP protocol.

3.) There's a good description here: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/11908.html

Reply back if you need any further clarification.
