I want to use NowSMS for marketing my company, we already have plentiful databases of numbers to send our SMS to, so now need to work on the solution.

I have three Orange contracts, each providing me with 3000 texts per month.

My main issue here is getting all three connected at once. I'm assuming my best bet is three USB GSM Modems?

Because I have 3 sims, each with 3000 texts i would like to be able to automatically move onto the next simcard once 3000 sms are sent from one. Is this possible? If not, can I define which modem to send via using the HTTP interface?

If i'm looking beyond the reach of NowSMS could somebody point me in the right direction?

Hi Michael,

Yes, USB modems would probably be the way to go.

Personally, I prefer the reliability of good old fashion serial port connections (and a serial port expansion adapter to add the ports to the PC). But for the type of volume that you are talking about, I'd be inclined to go the USB route.

The tricky bit of your scenario is the desire to limit each connection to 3000 texts per month. I understand why you want to do this ... and we've been getting quite a few questions similar to this recently. But we don't have any automated way of shutting off a connection after x messages per day or x messages per month.

That is an interesting idea, however. The primary problem that we've encountered is that not everyone's billing cycle is at the start of the month. For example, according to the recent bills for my personal mobile, my new month starts on the 3rd of the month. So we'd need to take this into consideration ... otherwise it would be easy to exceed the limit.

Anyway, we've been discussing this concept quite a bit internally, but do not have a solution to address it at this time.

Regarding the ability to define which modem to use when submiting via the HTTP interface ... the easiest way to do this is to define the modem's phone number under "Properties" for the modem in the "SMSC" list of NowSMS. Then, in your HTTP submission, include "&Sender=xxxxx". When a sender address is included in the HTTP submission, NowSMS will look for an SMSC definition with a matching sender address, and will route the message via that connection.

(More information on modem selection/routing can be found in the following thread: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/11908.html)
