I am using NOW/SMS SMPP server and a NOKIA 6021 to test SMS capabilities Oracle's Collaboration suite. SMS's are being sent but are garbled xml style text rather than the correct content. The Oracle driver that talks to the SMPP server has the following parameters - does anyobe know what the appropriate settings are for NOW/SMS SMPP server? sms.account.id sms.smpp.transmitter.system.type sms.smpp.receiver.system.type Thanks., Gavin. | |||

Hi Gavin, System type settings are not relevant. (It is an SMPP setting option that some providers use for billing or for additional identification purposes.) Account id ... I would suspect to be the username of the account that you define in NowSMS. I can't imagine why you would see XML outbound in this scenario ... SMPP is not an XML based protocol. And the interface to a GSM modem (such as the Nokia phone) is not XML based. So I can't see any reason that XML content would be being sent ... unless that is what the Oracle server is intending. Maybe if you can show me some of the raw content I can make some sense of it. I'd suggest enabling the SMSDEBUG.LOG file (the easiest way to do this is on the "Serial #" page of the NowSMS configuration dialog). As NowSMS runs, it will then produce an SMSDEBUG.LOG and an SMPPDEBUG.LOG. In particular, I'd like to see the SMPPDEBUG.LOG, as that will show me the SMPP input that is coming from the Oracle server. Either post those files as ZIP attachment in a reply here ... or if there is any potentially sensitive information included, then e-mail the ZIP to nowsms@now.co.uk with "Attention: Bryce" in the subject line, referencing this message thread (so that I can know why I'm to look at the logs). -bn |
