Hello,
I can send SMS if they are under the 160 car limit.
If I try to send multipart SMS, all the messages are not sent, and the debug log shows an "error 304".
I use the modem directly on COM1 without driver. It has been setup by NowSMS and work with short SMS.

Who could say me if the M20T Siemens is able to handle multipart messages, or if the problem comes from another source.

Also, where could I find a correct driver for the M20T ? (I've searched hours in the web but didn't find anything, and Siemens seems to be eaten by Benq...)

Thanks,
Pierre

Pierre, I am sorry to hijack your post, but i have a question. Since you have expiriense with modem SMS sending, i was wondering how many SMS are you able to send in certain time period with a GSM modem? Also, are you using special account with wireless provider or are you running it on your personal cell phone account. Thanks a lot for you responce.

Hi Pierre,

That is strange. "CMS ERROR 304" indicates that the modem believes that there is an invalid parameter in the message.

Most commonly we see this error with Motorola phones being used as a modem (they have a bug which prevents them from accepting any messages that include user data header ... which includes long SMS and almost all non-text messages).

But I haven't heard of any such problems with any Siemens devices.

I did find an old thread where someone was having problems receiving multipart SMS messages (e.g., long text) on a Siemens M20. They would only receive the first part of the message. (They traded in the modem for an MC35 before we could do any more troubleshooting.)

Can you try sending a simple WAP push message ... just include any URL and a short text ... does that also return error 304?

Ruslan,

Here is a recent thread that discusses SMS sending speed: http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/16578.html

Note that it is highly variable based upon the performance of your mobile operator's network, and whether or not they support SMS over GPRS.

A GSM modem uses a standard account with a mobile operator. See http://www.nowsms.com/whatisnowsms.htm#whatisgsmmodem
