Hi NowSMS support team, We are trying to realize the scenario in which the original SMS sender's number (SIM card number in GSM Modem) is changed to a third number. We tried to do it by configuring the NowSMS Gateway in the following way: 1. Create a SMPP connection 2. Open this SMPP based SMSC property window, enter a number we'd like to use in the "Sender Address" text box and check the "Allow Sender Address Override". 3. Then we start the SMS Gateway service and send an SMS by using the web interface. However, the sender's number is still the SIM card number, not the number we set in the property window. Besides we notice in the related reference of the 2006 manual it mentions "The SMPP server may override this setting." We don't know whether our setting is disabled by the server and there's no section in the manual dealing with the issue of overriding setting by the SMPP server. So we just got confused. We'd like to know 1. Is it possible to change sender's number in the NowSMS application? 2. If yes, what shall we do to empower this function? Thanks, Joe | |||

Hi Joe, If a message is being sent out via a GSM modem, then it is not possible to change the sender number. (The protocol that is used for sending messages via a GSM modem simply does not support this. The operator SMSC will always apply the phone number associated with the SIM as the sender address.) If the message is being sent out via an SMPP connection, the SMPP protocol does allow any value to be set as the sender address. However, your SMPP provider may have restrictions on what is allowed in the sender address, and they may override your sender address. -bn | |||
