Just downloaded the 2007 trial version and connect the Cingular 8525 WM5 smartphone via USB. In NowSMS it showed HTC USB Modem and added it in successfully. However, when sending SMS message, it said "Retry - 2 attempts(2) - ERROR - Modem Response (1): OK - HTC USB Modem". Nothing gets sent.

I tested the phone by sending a SMS directly on the phone and it worked. Receiving worked as well, but not within NowSMS. When receive, the phone notified me about the message, but NowSMS did not have knowledge about that message.

Any sugguestion?

Hi Rick,

Unfortunately, Windows Mobile devices do not support the AT command set for sending SMS messages (ETSI GSM 07.05 / 3GPP TS 27.005).

Some models return "OK" responses to AT commands that they do not understand ... and that is what you're seeing. NowSMS tries a few AT commands to test the modem for support ... the modem responds with the appropriate OK response so we let it get added to the list. Then when NowSMS tries to send a message, the modem responds back with "OK" to a command where that is not a proper response.

Unfortunately, this is not limited to Windows Mobile devices ... many so-called "smartphones" (including BlackBerry devices) do not offer this capability, even though they do have modem support for being used as a data modem for internet connectivity.
