hi, i am using 6100, mobile set get hanger after every some hours, so i have to unplug the cable, and then plug it again, and then restart the computer, so how can i avoid this. it is using only two way sms service. is there a possibility to reset the modem in case, without unplugging or restarting the computer. or is there a way it don't need unplugging. | |||

Hi, I'd be curious to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG from your system which shows the modem becoming unresponsive. We are always looking for ways to improve reliability. Serial devices are a little easier to deal with in that respect, because if the device is responsive, we can try sending a variety of different commands to try to wake the device up. And sometimes it works. USB is more difficult, because we are at the mercy of a USB driver. If the USB driver is buggy and gets confused, the only resolve is to reboot the system. I am beginning to think that for reliability purposes, it might be worthwhile for us to add an option in NowSMS to reboot if we cannot recover access to a modem. (However, there are also more situations where it is the device that needs to be rebooted, which can't be done if it is external.) One suggestion ... different settings for the "SMS Message Storage" option under properties of the modem might make a difference. For most dedicated modem devices, we recommend the "Direct to Modem" option. However, that setting won't work with most mobile phones ... for mobile phones, try using "Device Memory". It's just a hunch, but this setting might make a difference in your setup. -bn | |||
