Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with using NowSMS's gateway with a Wavecom Fastrack M1203A(900/1800 GSM/GPRS class 2) modem?

I'm testing it and have to buy a GSM modem, but wouldn't want to buy a Wavecom if it's not going to work. Specifically, I want to use the gateway to test my application AND send out MMS messages to phones in Singapore, using a Singapore SIM card.

Bryce, if you have tested it with the Wavecom M1203, I'd appreciate your comments on the MMS compatibility too.

Thanks,

Tillmann

Here's the reply from NowSMS:

Hi Tillmann,

All of my experience with Wavecom modems has been with older models. I would not expect any problem with newer models.

I just did a search through some of the old tech support messages, and most of the time, people do not mention the specific Wavecom model ... I was about to reply back to you and give you a list of some model numbers that people referenced ... but then I did find a message with someone using the M1203A. I also saw several references to an M1213A model ... I'm not sure what the differences are.

Regarding MMS in Singapore, I believe that one of the operators there has a closed MMS access point, but I'm not positive. Basically, a closed access point means that by default, phones pre-programmed by the operator can only receive MMS messages coming from the operator MMSC. Unfortunately, I can't remember if this is true of StarHub or M1, or if I am thinking of a different country.
