Hi guys

We've been hosting a client of ours using NowSMS's SMPP server for quite some time now. Yesterday they sent a 3-segment multi-part message, where the 3rd segment was literally one letter.

Rather strangely, the message arrived at the handset with a @@ prefixed to the last letter.

Tracking back as far as we could, we saw in the SMSOUT log file that the @@ symbols were also recorded in there.

When we asked the user for the submit_sm requests though, there weren't any @@ symbols thrown into the segment, which made us wonder if this could be a NowSMS bug.

We're currently using version 2011.09.22.

Would you be able to help us out with this.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

In the GSM character set, the @ character is encoded as a null. So, this character does have a tendency to show up unintentionally.

I'd probably have to see the original submit to know for certain where they originated.

What about the SMS log in the USERS directory for that account, is that log showing the @? (Actually, it might show binary on your system, as we only made a change to decode before writing to this log very late last year. Seeing those entries might help, without requiring the capture of a raw SMPP submission.)
