Hi, We are currently testing v2011.07.05 on a new production server ready to upgrade from the old version currently in service and are having issues with the web interface. When the service is started the web interface does not start to work, but sometimes after a while it will begin operating ok, then if we stop and start it to make any config changes the same occurs and it may/may not decide to work. Doing a netstat -a shows that there is no activity at all on the port specified (in this case the default 8800) but the program is running ok and displays in the services menu. Please can you assist as we can't go live with the new version while this issue is ongoing. Regards

Hi Tim, I'd suggest enabling the SMSDEBUG.LOG, and see what that shows. If you look at Windows Task Manager, showing processes for all users, is smsgws.exe running? -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Des, smsgw.exe*32 is showing under the proceeses under my user and smsgwnt.exe*32 is running under SYSTEM. I have enabled the debug log and restarted the service but the view option for the log is still disabled.

Hi Tim, My best guess is that the trial period counter is not getting initialised correctly. This sometimes happens if the install routine gets run under multiple user accounts. What's not clear to me is why it sometimes works for awhile. When we have seen this before, it just doesn't work. The solution is simple. We can just issue a temporary serial number to use instead of the trial period counter. E-mail the "Installation Reference Code" from the serial # page to nowsms@nowsms.com with Attention: Des on the subject line, and I will see that you get a reply back with a temporary license code. -- Des NowSMS Support |
