I struggled quite a bit trying to get E-Mail to SMS working via our Exchange Server. It was working fine when I connected to the SMTP port via telnet, but when Exchange connected it always rejected the message with 550 Recipient unknown or not local Turned out that error was misleading. It was rejecting the sender, not the recipient. AND it was rejecting user@Mydomain.org but accepting user@mydomain.org I'd registered @mydomain.org in the list of authorised senders, but our Exchange server capitalises the first letter of the mail domain. Just about tore my hair out before stumbling onto that. So I thought I'd register @mydomain.org, @Mydomain.org and @Mydomain.Org just to be sure I'd covered all the bases, but although the SMTP server is making a case-sensitive check, the list is case-insensitive, so I can only register one of the three. I've chosen @Mydomain.org and am hoping for the best! I'd like to suggest correcting the error message and making the check case-insensitive! Anthony

Hi Anthony, Sorry for the hair loss. The version on the download page (2014.06.30) does fix the auth check to be case sensitive. -- Des NowSMS Support

Case insensitive I hope :-)

I hope so too. I was concerned you might be overly sensitive about the hair loss, which made me insensitive to the proper usage of linguistic prefixes.

I have to revive this thread unfortunately. I've installed the 2014.06.30 release but still have the same problem. In the authorized senders list I have *@medgate.ch Sending from address@medgate.ch works, but sending from address@Medgate.ch produces "Recipient unknown or not local". Was it not fixed in that release after all? Anthony

Hi Anthony, You are correct. Something is still not right with case insensitivity, especially when wildcards are involved. I've referred this back to engineering for a fix. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Anthony, We've posted an interim update which should finally resolve this fully. It is at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms20140811.zip -- Des NowSMS Support

Looks good. The version number in the settings GUI is still 2014.06.30, but I'm assuming that's because it's an interim update, not that the installation was incomplete. Thanks a lot. Anthony

Hi Anthony, The settings GUI should be updated to say 2014.08.11. I just tried a fresh install, and that is the version I see. The mixed version shouldn't be a problem, as I don't think we changed anything in the GUI other than the version. It just concerns me that the installer didn't update it. If you enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG and restart the SMS service, do you see the correct version in the first 20 or so lines of that log? -- Des NowSMS Support

Yes the log is showing the correct version. I've attached a screenshot showing what I see, and the INSTALL.LOG file in case you want to check it out.
