Hi, I'm using the trial version of your product. I have a question: Who pays the MMS sent to my phone?

Thank you for your answers!

To send an MMS message from a phone, the phone opens a WAP connection and transmits an MMS send request to an MMSC over a WAP connection (usually over GPRS).

The MMSC sends an MMS notification message over SMS to the recipient device, informing the recipient that an MMS message is waiting. This MMS notification message is a specially formatted binary SMS message. (When you send a message through the gateway directly, this is what it is doing.)

When the recipient phone receives an MMS notification message, it retrieves the content of the MMS message from the MMSC over a WAP connection.

How that is charged depends on the operator(s) involved. To answer your question, when you send a message with the gateway, you are getting charged for an SMS (probably two SMS messages to contain a single SMS notification). And the recipient has WAP data charges involved.

I'm sorry, but you really have to talk to Vodafone about what is wrong with their MMS system.

As Bryce clearly stated above, this is a Vodafone issue and has nothing to do with NowSMS/MMS.

Here is a starting point for you:

This discussion list is to provide information about the NowSMS product and to generally help people who require some technical assistance with SMS/MMS functionality, we do strive to answer all genuine problems, it is not a forum for foul-mouthed ranting even from people who do have a command of the English language and least of all for people who don't. We could of course make it a closed list.
