Hi,

I really need your help.
I want to know if it's possible to send a MMS
without SMIL part (with text message) - just put the message after the TYPE=PLMN field, and if networks like Vodafone will except it.

I'm curious if anyone has an example of a phone that cannot support an MMS message that does not contain SMIL.

(For maximum compatibility, I do recommend that you always include SMIL ... I'm just curious.)

I know it is possible. I have even seen an application that sends MMS messages without any SMIL implemented. It just sends 1 picture in a message and I have been told that it works at most cases with different phones.

The weird thing is that we recently bought a Nokia 6610 and it doesn't support SMIL at all. We bought it as a test phone for our MMS application.

After doing some research it became clear a lot of phones from Nokia don't support SMIL but they say those are MMS capable phones. Very weird, I thought using SMIL should be the standard.

Yes,Norkia always don't toe the mark, to my suprise,Nokia advocates to use smil at document MMS_Conformance_v2_0_0.pdf,but it iteself don't go according to it. maybe it think it is elder brother than others. :-)

Yeah, the Nokia 6600 is the first one that I've noticed which has SMIL support (although there may be others).

Frequently I have seen that the devices generate SMIL files when sending messages, even if they don't really support them for playback.
