Hi,

What's the standard mime name for 'imelody'? is 'audio/imelody' or 'text/x-imelody'? and what's the name for 'midi'? is 'audio/midi', or 'audio/mid'?

Hi Liang,

From my observations, I have seen "text/x-imelody" referenced as the MIME type far more often than "audio/imelody".

As imelody is most frequently implemented in (Sony)Ericsson phones, consulting the User Agent profile published for the T68i, I see "text/x-imelody" referenced as a supported MIME type, but not "audio/imelody".

For MIDI, "audio/midi" seems to be the most commonly used MIME type. For example, looking at the User agent profiles for Nokia and SonyEricsson phones that support MIDI, I see both "audio/midi" and "audio/mid" listed as supported. But if I look at the Siemens S55, it only lists "audio/midi".

Hi,

could you tell me what the mime type is for the new sharp gsx10 phone.

It uses a type of smaf ringtone.

Many thanks

"application/vnd.smaf" with a file extension of ".mmf" is what is common for SMAF.

Unfortunately, I don't have any examples of actual SMAF content ... but if you have some SMAF content, that's the MIME type to use.

What phone are you using? It is mostly phones with OpenWave browsers that support SMAF.

I assume that you're attempting to download the SMAF through a WAP browser? Or are you trying to do it via MMS?

Maybe you can post a link with an example of what you are trying?

Sharp GX-10 with Openwave browser:

url to a set of them with "application/vnd.smaf" as the MIME type in a .htaccess file:

http://www.udezign.co.uk/wap/new/rt.php

(ignoring the /new/rt.php will cause you to recieve a bandwidth error page, i've disabled it only for this page.)

Rob,

I got a server error connecting to the URL, so I couldn't check it out, but I will try later in the week. (Maybe someone else out here with a phone that supports SMAF can try as well?)

If you tried on PC then it goes straight to the website. Its a wap only link. One of these many silly DNS setups i've got on that domain :-)

Anyway, it will only work from mobile handsets, Tagtag + Wapsilon have also been restricted because i had huge bandwidth theft problems on this wapsite.

Cheers
