Hi there,

I was having a quistion of which I think you will be able to answer. Let's say I have a device working with Linux on it. On this device is a an application using a WAP stack to send MMS messages to the WAP GW of my prodiver (Vodafone) through a Siemens MC35T (Class B = GSM & GPRS services attached at the same time).

What steps would I have to take to send an MMS message in response of an SMS message? Just a basic step or requirement would already help.

Marty,

Is the fact that this is in response to an SMS a relevant part of your question? I'm asking, because if we assume that you already know how to send an MMS message ... the only difference here is that you are looking at who sent the SMS message that you received, and you are specifying that phone number as the recipient of the MMS.

Yes Brice, I am asking this because the receiving of the SMS and sending the MMS messages will be done by the same MC35T.

I don't know yet what happens in the real world when you are attached to the GPRS service of the provider and an SMS message is coming in. Will this SMS message be queued till the GPRS connection is ended or will something else happen?

I know how to handle the SMS message to send an MMS to the right recepient but I dion't thibk most of the modems can receive SMS over GSM while being attached to GPRS.

Marty,

Apologies for the delay in responding back to you ...

Unfortunately, the SMS message is queued until the GPRS connection is ended.

Some PC card modems, like the Sierra Aircard 750 support simultaneous SMS and GPRS access, and don't have this limitation. However, I have not seen any external GPRS modems that can get around this limitation.

If possible, you might want to route the outbound MMS messages via a different modem.
