Hi,

I need some pointers on buying a GSM modem and a SIM card.

I'm based in California and I'm thinking about going with Cingular, which I believe only operates on 1900 band, so the recommended ones (Siemens MC35 or Wavecom FASTRACK) from the website wouldn't work since they're both 900/1800 band. Is there any difference in quality of the GSM modem?

Also, I'm mainly concerned with receiving MMS messages. Would Cingular be a good provider to go with?

Lastly, if someone overseas (say Europe) wants to SMS/MMS me, would it be possible for me to receive it in California? Is there usually additional charges for the senders?

thanks!

Aleck

The newest WAVECOM FASTRACK SUPREME is a quadband modem (850/900/1800/1900).
So it works everywhere in the world!
Also in addition to GPRS, it has EDGE support (this allows a faster data connection).
