I am learning about the SMS space. Is there a way for me to have my own custom SMS address that I can use and own regardless of who my cell carrier is? Similar to owning an email address/domain separate from my ISP. (i.e nowsms.com versus mycableprovider.com) Example - I want an SMS User and Domain address that I can use and port between carriers. | |||

Generally speaking, no. You can register (and pay) for a short code through an SMS service provider, but I haven't heard too much about whether or not you could have portability to move this short code to another provider. | |||
