I'm trying to run SM gateway on Wavecom Fastrack external modem. Adding a modem I received "modem does not support SMS" error. How should I initialize this modem ? I'm trying to bind a gateway directly to COM port. Should I do it with windows driver (I do not have a driver for that modem) ? Maybe it is a problem with a PIN. With other SMS gateways I have an option to provide PIN for a SIM card and with that I had no problems to initialize and use this modem. Could anyone give me a hint how to configure Wavecom modem on NOW SMS ? Regards, Leszek | |||

I had the same problems. I found out that it was the driver installed in windows that was wrong. If you have the latest version of nowsms installed try yo add new connection and instead of ointing the the modem, point it to the comport that the modem is on. Woopti, and it works.. | |||

Leszek, The "Modem does not support SMS" error is usually generated by one of two conditions: 1.) The port that is selected is not the right port, and points to a standard modem instead of the intended GSM modem. 2.) The SIM requires a PIN code. Since you mention the PIN code, that is likely the issue. You need to remove the PIN before the SIM can be used in a GSM modem with NowSMS. We have added PIN support into the next version. If you were getting an "initialization" related error, then I'd recommend trying a modem driver. ("Standard 9600 bps Modem" or "Generic 9600 bps Modem" generally works.) But as Lars says, with the latest version (v4.20), NowSMS works great with a direct COM port connection. (Side note: When adding PIN support for the next version, we even noticed that with some GSM modems ... particularly phones as opposed to dedicated modem devices ... that it was not possible to use a modem driver when a PIN is configured. You had to configure the direct COM port connection to be able to send a PIN.) | |||
