Hi Bryce,

I have a T68i and it can send/receive SMS/MMS successfully. That means the config of GPRS data account with APN is correct!

Now T68i have connected with PC via infrared and send MMS using your software. I successfully received the MMS notification, the T68i tried to download the message, but after 30 seconds it said "communication or network error". So can you tell me what might be the problem?

I known that the MMS notification message contains header information about the MMS message, and a URL pointer that tells the mobile phone how to retrieve the MMS message content. Is the URL pointer should be http://192.168.134.112/xxx/xxx.mms or a external domain http://domain.com/xxx/xxx.mms or other something? (192.168.134.112 is ip addr of my pc)

Go without saying, it can not download the mms if the URL is http://192.168.134.112/xxx/xxx.mms, right? I am very confused about that!!

How can i send/receive MMS successfully?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Danny

Danny,

192.168.134.112 is an IP address that is in a private address range, so you likely go through a firewall with NAT (network address translation) to talk to the internet.

Basically, you need to get an opening through the firewall so that you have a port accessible on a public address that gets routed through to the HTTP port for the MMSC installed on your PC.

Then you have to configure the "Local Host Name or IP Address" on the "MMSC" page of the configuration dialog so that it uses the external name. (NowSMS uses this name in building the URL that it sends out in the MMS notification to the recipient device.)

You can run into an issue where if from inside your firewall, you cannot access the external name and have it routed back to your PC.

NowSMS self-validates the URL before sending the notification out, and while the URL with the external name may be valid from the outside world, it might not be accessible from your internal network. If you run into this issue, there is a tip at the following link on how to use the HOSTS file on your local PC so that the external host name resolves to a local IP address from the PC running NowSMS only:

Hope that points you in the right direction.
