You can do this quite easily with our software, you just need to install our software in conjunction with some sort of SMS connectivity (can be as simple as a mobile phone connected to a PC serial port with the appropriate cable or using a bluetooth connection).

Follow through the steps in our "Quick Start Guide", and as long as you have a mobile phone that can act as a data modem connected to your computer, it's a pretty simple task.

Oh ... to do this you will also need a PC that has a directly accessible connection to the internet. When an MMS message is sent to a mobile phone, the MMS notification message that tells the mobile phone that it has an MMS message is sent over SMS. That notification message includes an HTTP URL that the mobile phone must fetch to retrieve the message ... in order to retrieve the message from our gateway, our gateway software needs to be installed on a PC with an internet connection that is accessible from the outside world.

1) MMS Notification is just a simple SMS message, isn't it ?
2) It can be send via standart SMS mobile interface, even if mobile don't supported MMS, right ?
3) If yes, what structure do this SMS have (SMS-COMMAND, SMS-SUBMIT with some special parameters or something else) ?
Best regards,

Lins,

1.) Simplicity is in the eye of the beholder, but relatively speaking, I would say "Yes".

2.) Yes.

3.) It is a binary SMS message. The MMS specifications published by the Open Mobile Association define the format of the message.

Bryce,
I'm in network analyzers buseness and need to generate WAP/MMS traffic. I found that Nokia has free SDKs for that area. What are your recomendations to do that in the easiest way?

Regards,
Vlad

Vlad,

I suppose it depends on what you need to analyse.

I think simulators (SDKs) are very useful in the WAP environment, but I have not yet seen a simulator that can simulate a real world MMS transaction. (Many of the SDKs allow you to test MMS content, but not the actual MMS transaction over the network.)

We have handset manufacturer customers of our software ... and they often use specialised test equipment to simulate real world network environments. (Because they want to test real world scenarios.)

It all depends on what you want to analyse.
