Is this product aimed at SMS experts. I have downloaded the sample application and am unable to get it to work.

It requires configuration to an SMS server, where is the manual does it state what settings I should use ? How am I meant to obtain this information ?

Your help on this matter would be appreciated. Also what are the costs of sending the messages, we currently use a web interface www.SpiderSMS.com to send our data, they cost us 3p a message, your system states how much it costs to buy the software but not to send messages. Could you therefore elaborate on costs, we currently send about 700,000 SMS a month, and we receive about 300,000 per month from various campaigns.

Many thanks

Simon,

If you are confused, that is because we offer a software product, not a service. You would be expected to use the software in conjunction with a service.

If we can offer any assistance in determining the proper parameters for connecting to a particular service provider, or answer any other questions, let us know.

Do you have details then of proven service providers that your software can be used with? I just want to send and receive a message to make sure it works.

For future reference it would make sense to include this in the help guide, or at least what questions should be asked of a provider in order to make your product link to them.

This way you might find people like us keen to purchase products like these. If we can get it to work then it'll be a pleasure.

We are keen to get an MMS service running, again any details of providers for this would be beneficial.

Cheers

Simon.

Hi Simon,

I agree. In a perfect world, we could supply you with a good list of service providers.

Choosing a provider usually becomes an issue of whether you have global/international messaging requirements, or whether your requirements are particular to a given country or set of countries.

We've been using Clickatell (www.clickatell.com) recently. They have pretty good international coverage (some problems currently getting to some countries on the continent), and they're reasonably priced for no minimum commitments ... however, they only provide an HTTP interface which makes them good for sending outbound messages, not receiving them.

Receiving messages usually requires an SMPP or UCP/EMI connection directly with an operator, or through an aggregator that has close ties to an operator. These aggregators are usually more locally focused, as opposed to globally focused. Unfortunately, I don't have any good suggestions in the UK on that front at the moment, outside of the operators.

A quick web search shows www.hsl.uk.com offers SMPP connections and might be worth a look.

I've also heard from people using Wanadoo on the continent ... but I'm not sure where a web link is for the SMS services of Wanadoo.
