Since our embedded device also has a mail-server I was wondering about sending an e-mail and let it deliver as an MMS at the recepients phone. Is the conversion done by the provider's MMSC and so which providers offer this service? Are there other services / applications to do this?

Hi Marty,

Sorry that I haven't had the time recently to visit this discussion forum as frequently as the other forums out here that specifically relate to our product.

From what I've seen, very few mobile operators offer this service through their MMSC.

The reason for this is that in most of the world, the model for SMS and MMS is that the sender pays. And there is no way for the sender to pay in this type of e-mail scenario.

In the US, both sender and receiver pays, so you are more likely to see a mobile operator offer this type of service there. (T-Mobile in the US offers this, but they do a horrible job of converting e-mail to MMS messages.)

Our Now SMS/MMS Gateway can accept e-mail messages and route them out over MMS ... so you might want to take a look at that.

Brice,

thanks for your time to reply once again on giving answers on non-product-related questions. I realise that the billing is a problem in this matter but I believe I'd heard or read about the solution for paying in advance. Maybe some visitors on this forum have experience using this kind of service.
