hello Team,
We are facing an issue with regards to some subcribers that are unable to access mobile yahoo mail, the output of the error they have is the following:"Proxy error,
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server ,the proxy server couldn’t handle the request"
PS:they are able to access any other web page, the encounter the problem while trying to access yahoo mail.
Support could it be related to HTPP mismatch protocol error or a specific problem with our wap proxy or the yahoo mail server?
How could we fix it?

Please consider this as an emergency.

Hi Jean Pierre,

I am unsure of the context of your question. You have posted it in an "unsupported" area, so I don't know if this is by mistake.

Are you a NowWAP customer? (You are asking for emergency support, do you have a support contract?)

The error that you mention "Proxy error,
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server ,the proxy server couldn’t handle the request" ... is not an error message generated by NowWAP.

As best as I can tell from internet searches, this is an error message generated by an Apache server operating in a proxy mode.

It means that the Apache server is proxying the request to another server, but it is not getting a valid response from the server.

It likely has nothing to do with your system, as it seems to be referring to a communication between that server and an upstream proxy server. If you are connecting via NowWAP, it would be downstream, not upstream.

My terminology may be confusing, but I don't know how else to explain it. The request follows this path:

phone -> nowwap -> Yahoo front end server -> ???

The Yahoo front end server is likely a proxy of some sort, based upon Apache. And it says it is having a problem communicating upstream ... in other words a problem communicating with the server that it needs to connect with in order to fill the request.

I can't see how any HTTP protocol mismatch on your end could be involved.

My first suspicion would be that it is some sort of temporary regional error in Yahoo's network, and they will probably fix it.

What you might want to try to find out more about the problem is try to connect to the mobile URL from a web browser. (I think it is just m.yahoo.com, although there are a variety of regional domains as well.) Does that work ok?

Can you try it from a web browser on the NowWAP machine itself. Does that work?

Assuming that works, configure the web browser on that machine to use NowWAP as a proxy ... and does that still work?

That should help narrow down where the problem lies.

Also, if you have a full internet APN and you can configure a device to connect without a proxy for testing, that can also help narrow down where the problem is.

I can access mail from a mobile device via m.yahoo.com without any problems, so there is not a general protocol level problem.
