Hello Support, We are going to upgrade our WAPGW from 2500 concurrent sesions to 5000 and we want to choose a server which support this new traffic. Could you please tell us your recommendations in terms of hardware (HDD space, RAM, processor, etc.) to make it possible? Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Jose, Is this related to the following query? http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/131/70301.html In case it is, the current system was sufficient, it just needed to be upgraded to 4GB of memory. Generally speaking, for that load, we'd recommend 4GB of memory and 8 logical processor cores (two quadcore processors, four dual core processors, or two dualcore processors with hyperthreading support). We would also recommend a 64-bit operating system. (For that load, you could get away with a 32-bit operating system, as long as the 3GB switch is configured in Windows' boot.ini, but 64-bit will perform better and allow further expansion in the future.) Hard disk space is purely for log files. Generally speaking, a 500GB hard drive should be sufficient. It's a good idea to look at your existing configuration and its LOG files to develop a real world estimate. Size up *.LOG in the NowWAP directory, and the total size of the NowWAP\REPORTS directory if you have reports enabled. -- Des NowSMS Support

Hello, Thank you so much for your response. This is not relate to the mentioned query, but as I can see, this is a similar scenario. Is there any risk or unexpected behavior on that load using only one interface? Regards, Stalin

Hi Stalin, A lot of our customers use multiple NICs, but the second NIC is usually only used remote desktop or VNC, so that those activities do not interfere. In order to use multiple NICs for the mobile traffic, you would need to have a load balancer to balance traffic for the gateway IP address. Unless, you have published multiple IP addresses for your gateway settings (one for MMS, one for general WAP). -- Des NowSMS Support |
