what are the issues involved with enabling http access from java midlets? we have various 'phones that just can't download files from our webserver from within our application.

we are currently using the the standard o2 contract settings for WAP (OMA format) and can get to their homepage (and elsewhere) using the Browser but cannot get anything from within the midlet.

any ideas / pointers gratefully appreciated 8)

phones:
Sagem MyX-7
Nokia 3220
(we have a Nokia 6230 and a Motorola V3 which both seem ok using the same settings)

Just letting you know, I'm having the same problem: if I try to access the web from a 3220 inside a application, then I'll get a error - with the same application and same settings on my nokia 7610... I've contacted my phone provider Optus, And had no luck... they say that "its not their problem" initially I thought that the problem was the settings for gprs access was wrong, but thats not correct...

Its a big negative though!

Email me for some further information

Well,

Just go through the Developer_Platform_2_0_Known_Issues_v1_13_en.pdf and Developer_Platform_2_0_Known_Issues_v1_11_en.pdf
(U will get it from the nokia site). Thay have clearly mentioned that 3220 is having some problem with the access point. It does not allow you the create an access point for GPRS. That is why u r getting such error. May be the device with upgraded OS solve the problem, otherwise NO HOPE.
