Hi,

I've been trying to setup our ConiuGo LTE LAN modem with NowSMS.

However the setup process continues to lock up/freeze after i enter the IP and port for the modem - I have no issues running other SMS software with this modem.

Can anyone tell me if NowSMS supports ConiuGo modems, and if so what i'm doing wrong?

Hi Daniel,

Where are you entering the IP number and port?

The only place I can think of is in the configuration for an Android modem. That setting expects to communicate with our app running on an Android device. If you give it a Telnet port for an IP modem, it will get confused and hang for about 2 minutes before reporting an error.

NowSMS Lite will not support TCP/IP modems, unless you use a virtual COM port driver...which is supposedly included on a CD included with that modem.

The full NowSMS does support TCP/IP modems, but requires manual configuration file edits to enable.

We do not encourage the use of TCP/IP modems, because they can support SMS only. Our Android solution over TCP/IP (or dedicated USB/serial modem) can support both SMS and MMS.

If you want to try this modem with NowSMS, uninstall NowSMS Lite, and install the full NowSMS. Exit the configuration program, and manually edit SMSGW.INI in the installation directory.

SMSGW.INI will probably be an empty file. Add/replace the contents with this:

[SMSGW]
Modem1=IPModem - 192.168.101.86:5000

[IPModem - 192.168.101.86:5000]
Username=admin
Password=admin

Substitute the IP address and port of your modem and remove the username/password if not needed.

Go back into NowSMS to complete the configuration. (Start the SMS service and define an account under "SMS Users" to allow you to login to the web interface.)

On the "Serial #" page, enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG in case we need to troubleshoot.
