I've sent a mms message to my phone (Nokia 6670 and 7610) as an wap push . I've seen the content of the message, but i couldn't download the mms file. The error was "unknow file type". The message was a picture (gif).
Can somebody help me solve this problem, to be able to download the mms file on my phone?
Thank you.

If you just put an MMS file on a server and try to open the link with a WAP browser, or send the link via a standard WAP Push, your phone will not understand what you are trying to do.

It does not expect an MMS message to be delivered this way, and it might display an error such as "unknown content type", or it might do nothing at all.

A URL for an MMS message does get sent out using WAP Push, but a special type of WAP Push is used, which is called an MMS notification.

If you have a precompiled MMS message stored on a web server, you can send an MMS notification out for this URL using the "Send MMS Notification" function in NowSMS. If NowSMS complains that the content type is invalid, this means that the file is not in the precompiled MMS format. (More about this here: http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Sending.htm)

But, I wouldn't waste a lot of time learning about the precompiled MMS message format, , because many mobile operators block message delivery from external MMSCs ... see http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm for more background and links.

You might not be able to accomplish what you want.

See http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm.

Consider using WAP Push for pushing content from a web server. If it's for your own personal use, consider investing in a bluetooth adapter for your PC, then assuming your phone supports bluetooth, you can share data between PC and phone with minimal hassle.

This is the support forum for the Now SMS/MMS Gateway software product, so I can't really help you with general phone settings issues.

But some quick advice ... make sure that the MMS Server URL is configured correctly. This URL is not necessarily important when receiving messages (although some operator MMSCs will resend you messages if it is not set correctly), but it is very important when sending.

If you're convinced that this setting is correct for your mobile operator, then something might be wrong with how your account is provisioned for MMS at your mobile operator, and you may need to contact your mobile operator for assistance.
